Murrumbidgee Shire

 

The Murrumbidgee Shire takes its name from the famous river that borders it and encompasses the towns of Darlington Point and Coleambally. Darlington Point hugs the river and offers aquatic activities such as fishing, swimming and boating.Visit Wilbriggie State Forest with access in town or off Whitton Road. You can’t go past a visit to Altina Wildlife Park which have both native and exotic animals on display. Personalised tours around the open air park are available in a horse drawn cart.

Travel south along the Kidman Way and you will come to the township of Coleambally which was established primarily to service the irrigation scheme. Located on the main highway is the Bucyrus Erie dragline excavator, an amazing piece of construction machinery. Walking tracks surround the town in the forest reserves, which are home to the Southern Bell Frog and Superb Parrot.
